Recycling Bin #2 (Portal), 2024, Handmade paper made from newspaper, lint, shredded paper

This paper is created from handmade paper made by ripping up and blending unwanted paper to create a new sheet of paper. The collage illustrates lint entering the receptacle (at the top ellipse) and being transformed into handmade paper (in the bottom ellipse). I'm interested in how the work I create as an artist can poetically and very literally embody patience, regeneration and imagination. How can we reimagine flawed systems, like waste management, to be slower and rooted in care? How can we embody new rituals and practices that question and lessen our dependence on these systems?
